A blend of world travels, Swedish and Indian backgrounds, and living in atmospheres with a multitude of international influences, has created who I am and what I represent in my collections.

Growing up in Sweden and Spain, my childhood home was an utter image of eclectic décor and melting of cultures; a harmonious blend of my mothers' Scandinavian flair and my fathers’ Indian background, all kept together in true balance by each other’s cultural backgrounds. My environment was full of art, architecture, design, and fashion. A chic simplistic style held together with functionality and practicality, the vibrant surroundings inspired my creativity and life on many levels. From taking on art school, where I discovered my passion for photography and other forms of art, to acquiring a thirst for collecting unique and impressive masks, sculptures, and framed art acquired throughout my journeys, all I did led me to a full reflection of my personal style and character and ultimately to my true enthusiasm; creating a design concept for home décor and furnishings that would reflect a true multicultural approach that fits into today’s modern living.

Elegant, comfortable, timeless and fashionable, we use classic colors, exotic detail, and textures to create a lifestyle of modern luxury with casual elegance and practicality. We venture frequently to faraway places and walk the streets and towns less traveled to obtain the inspirations, the look, and the feel of our collections. Made of unique materials and genuine craftsmanship, our products embody the fusion of our own creative designs with the production process of smaller ‘cottage industry’ manufacturers that specialize in hand-made crafts and one of a kind items. Ensured with the highest quality materials and finished products, we work with exclusive textures and essences from nature; the richest velvets, smoothest silks, luscious suede, delicate details of glass beads, shells, sequins, and beautifully embroidered silk thread. We pride in the fact that all our products are obtained naturally and fairly through fair trade and labor and free from animal cruelty. Our leather and suede products come from animals that have died a natural death or as a result of natural food production. We never use furs or skins from animals that have been caught and caged or from any species that is threatened by extinction. As with all hand-made products, slight structural variations or ‘imperfections’ may occur from one item to the next adding a natural character to our products and stands for our mark of authenticity and fine workmanship.

I believe one’s home is the place where people can get a glimpse of others lives, culture and even personality. My quest is to bring uncompromised luxurious products to fit any lifestyle and living space. The result became what is now AK by Anna Karina ~ Asian infusion with Scandinavian style and Eurasian attitude with global elegance.
